Our first Powerful Learning Press book party was some serious fun, showcasing examples of the great writing going on at our Voices from the Learning Revolution blog.

Five teachers who contributed to our first essay collection — The Connected Teacher: Powering Up (download a free copy here) — read brief excerpts, talked a bit about their selected text, and then engaged in some excellent conversation with the audience, both over the mic and inside a very lively chat stream.

Over at YouTube, we’ve captured recordings of the individual readings by Patti Grayson, Brian Crosby, Kathy Cassidy, Marsha Ratzel and Shelley Wright. To hear (and see) the discussions that followed the readings, watch and listen to the one-hour event at this Blackboard Collaborate archive.

The audience was small but highly engaged. We had such a good time, in fact, that we were all shaking our heads a bit, thinking about the empty seats in the room and the missed opportunities for others to be inspired and motivated by these personal stories of connected learning and teacher transformation in a live venue.

But, hey, we’re new. And we’ll be back in the New Year with more books, more author readings and more celebrations. Upcoming PLPress online events will showcase practical, compelling books from Marsha Ratzel (@ratzelster), Kathy Cassidy (@kathycassidy) and Shelley Wright (@wrightsroom). And that’s just the beginning.

If you signed up for last night’s event but had to pass on the party, check out the recording. You won’t want to do that again!
