Year 1 Traditional Communities

Communities are made up of 20 school or district teams from around the state (or world).

  • Teams are made up of 5 educators
  • Full-day Kick-off and Culminating face-to-face workshops
  • Five two-hour, synchronous, online webinars taking participants from “What is 21st Century learning and why is it important?” to long-range planning and implementation in your school.
  • Immersion in an asynchronous Virtual Learning Community where teams can collaborate, connect with other educators, and reflect deeply upon their learning anytime.
  • Ongoing support from Powerful Learning Practice Community Leaders, Connected Coaches, Fellows and visiting Experienced Voices.
  • Sign up before July 1, get an additional team member FREE
  • Participation in other PLP Live events – FREE

Pricing

Year 1 Communities are  priced at $1,500 per person for an entire school year of job-embedded PD. If you consider the cost of sending just one member of your staff to a national 2-day conference, the cost would come out to around the same amount for travel, expenses and admission.

Real value

In comparison, this is community-driven PD every single day of the school year for a member of your staff – all for under $9 per day. Districts that register 2 or more teams will receive discounts on each new team’s registration fee. Hosting organizations or schools get an entire team’s registration for free – a $7,500 value.

Year 1 Virtual Communities

A Virtual Community is an opportunity for individuals to participate in the Powerful Learning Practice experience, even if their school or district does not put together a team.

  • The Virtual Community is made up of individual educators from all over the world
  • The entire experience is made up of online sessions – no face-to-face time is included
  • Five two-hour, synchronous, online webinars taking participants from “What is 21st Century learning and why is it important?” to long-range planning and implementation in your school.

Year 2 Communities

Return for your second year with Powerful Learning Practice, and you start to see some serious value.

  • Five two-hour, synchronous, online webinars about understanding the powers and potentials of project, problem, and passion-based learning: using inquiry-based learning through the lens of social technologies; provoking conversations and collaborative solutions to assessment issues; re-envisioning classrooms and curriculum; developing cross-curricular projects embedded with 21st Century skills and literacies; looking closely at how to scale learning while involving students in the PLP process
  • Immersion in an asynchronous Virtual Learning Community where teams can collaborate, connect with other educators, and reflect deeply upon their learning anytime.
  • Ongoing support from Powerful Learning Practice Community Leaders, Connected Coaches, Fellows and visiting Experienced Voices.
  • 4 FREE live, interactive Project-Based Learning (PBL) Power Sessions – where student/teacher teams actually execute a PBL plan together online with PLP leaders and subject matter experts from around the world – See this year’s example
