We’re proud to announce our brand new Badge Crumbs program: a way for PLPeeps (educators going through the Powerful Learning Practice year-long professional development experience) to navigate their way through their year with PLP.

Since our Powerful Learning Practice Community experience is so packed with new knowledge and cool tools, sometimes it can get a bit confusing. Our PLPeeps might feel like they’re lost, deep in the dark woods, and a scary lady who lives in a gingerbread house is right around the corner! Badge Crumbs will brighten up your experience and bring you to the next clearing.

We think Hansel and Gretel had the right idea leaving a trail of breadcrumbs to help them navigate the woods – and Badge Crumbs will do the same for our PLPeeps (with the added perk that annoying birds won’t be eating your navigational tools). With Badge Crumbs, PLPeeps can unlock badges for the things they do online, and will have a clear trail marked out to help navigate all the new tools and journeys in the year long Community experience!

Why badges?

The Word Spreader Badge

Learning happens everywhere, especially online. Badges help you make your way through new and unfamiliar territory and tools. They also give you public recognition for your skills and achievements in online spaces when you display them on your social networking profile, resume, website, or just about anywhere.

How it works

Each Badgecrumbs Level 1 badge has several small tasks that must be completed to earn that badge. Once a PLPeep completes all the tasks for a Badgecrumbs Level 1 badge, they email their team leader to let them know. The team leader will distribute HTML code for the badges, which the PLPeeps can use on profiles, blogs, or sites!

Level up!

If PLPeeps collect five or more Level 1 badges, they’ll earn an exclusive, esteemed Badge Crumbs Level 2 badge. For each Badge Crumbs Level 2 badge earned, their name goes in a quarterly drawing for a mini-library of educational and technology books from top experts in the field!
