Have you found yourself thinking or saying…

Women crouched down with mask

I’m stressed out, I can’t sleep, and I don’t even know what I don’t know, at this point.

No one taught me how to do this in college. The world is changing at a dizzying pace and schools are in constant flux.

I’m simply exhausted.

I feel so lost and overwhelmed. I don’t have the mental capacity or bandwidth to figure this all out alone.

What I really need is someone with more experience who can provide guidance and help me find my way.

I want to connect with others that are invested in moving forward rather than spending my energy trying to figure this out alone.

I’m interested in being in a community with other educators, so we can hold each other accountable for rising to the challenge of what’s best for kids.

There’s got to be a better way to do this.

Something has to change. But you don’t have to do it alone.

You know there’s got to be a better way. In 2023, there’s simply too much to think about, too much to remember, and too much to do.

We are right there with you, but we also know there is a more sustainable way to meet the demands of teaching and learning in an AI driven, post pandemic world.

The answer is not working 24/7 non-stop, on your own, trying to figure it all out!

We’ve got good news for you.

You don’t have to navigate the unpredictable on your own. Let’s do this, together.

Instant Impact will give you exactly what the name suggests: Everything you need to know to see instant impact in streamlining and simplifying your teaching and learning process, whether it is shifting to a passion-based learning mindset, figuring out how to use blended learning well, or establishing a hybrid/remote learning environment in your classroom – we got you.

We have designed a comprehensive program aimed to streamline every aspect of your teaching day without sacrificing joy, laughter and everything you have come to love about teaching.

How would it feel to…

Be calm and confident in your teaching practices without putting in endless hours during your time off trying to figure this all out on your own.

Have reassurance that you’re doing all of the right things for your students during this unknown time.

Have extra time to spend with your family and do the things you love (outside of teaching)!

Have the ability to create engaging, post pandemic lesson plans that leverage the potential of technology for your students.

Create and maintain a more sustainable way to meet your students needs and your own.

Have renewed confidence in your teaching practice without overwhelm or confusion.

Prepares our students for the world they will live in

Energized. Engaged. Excited. Action-oriented. Is that not how we want our teachers to be about professional learning? That is exactly how Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach left our teachers after a week of connecting strong instructional pedagogy, passion-based learning and the integration of technology. It isn’t just about the tools. Teachers are left with a sense of empowerment, knowledge, and the confidence to rethink teaching and learning that prepares our students for the world they will live in.

The first time I noticed Sheryl was at a session at Educon and I knew right away I had to meet her.  She was such a voice of passion, strength and wisdom.

I was fortunate enough to be part of a Ontario PLP cohort a number of years ago and this experience was exactly what I needed.  I was able to get connected with amazing educators, have intentional discussions and consolidate my thinking in a way that was transformational and lasting for me.

I always look forward to connecting with Sheryl.  She truly is an amazing role model for all strong, thoughtful and passionate women educators.

Best in the business

When our district began refining its instructional vision, we turned to Powerful Learning Practice and Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach as a necessary first step to help lead and facilitate the planning and goal-setting, and to work with us as we designed and implemented our own Professional Learning Collaboratives (PD training) that were needed to connect our teachers and administrators across the curriculum and grade levels.

…four years into the process and the support we have been given is the best in the business. They have provided leadership training, both online and face-to-face, and designed professional development specifically to transition WOISD to a ‘this century’ learning environment.

Incredible growth experience

PLP has been an incredible growth experience for me. Here, I find people to bounce ideas off, to challenge the way I think, to push me to do more, go further, think deeper, try again and again and yes, again, to figure out the best way to help my colleagues and students and me make the shift to 21st century learning. I am not the same learner I was before I began this journey, and I know I have much farther to go.

The PLP team has done a wonderful job drawing on theory, research, and evidence-based best practice and in creating a framework for professional development for educators. The guided tour provides a clear and coherent picture of what the network offers and how participants will participate.

The timeline of the courses and the sequencing of the learning experiences enable participants to build capacity as well as trust, focus on authentic learning projects, and communicate and share work within and beyond the network. Thank you!

Life changing professional development

Without a doubt, this was the most life changing professional development experience of my 23+ years in teaching. I was fortunate enough to be a “fellow” for our district for three years. We have had over 40 of our district staff participate in PLP. This professional development embodies what we now know about professional learning: it must be job-embedded, long-term, community-driven, passion-based and leverage digital technologies to bridge the gaps of space and time.

Sheryl Nussbaum Beach and her team have their feet firmly planted in the 21st Century; their understanding and knowledge of good teaching practices, coupled with a deep understanding of networked learning and digital technologies is the basis for this compelling PD. All professional development should be based off the PLP model.

Meet your facilitator

Hi! I’m Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach, CEO of Powerful Learning Practice. In 2001, I was an educator in Virginia Beach, VA.  I had just been selected TOY for my district when September 11th happened. Like COVID-19, none of us saw it coming.

Lots of our parents were in the military and being within driving distance of New York and Washington DC, everyone knew someone who had been impacted. Teachers were hurting and felt the isolation while trying to help their students who were also hurting.

We needed each other to heal and learn. That was when I got the idea to build a virtual community and embed the professional learning that was needed into the connected spaces online.

The results were tremendous. We healed collaboratively as we shared what we were learning. It led to instant impact in our classrooms.

As a thought leader for connected learning, I have coached top leaders through their digital conversion efforts around the world. I get transformational change personally and professionally and my team does too. Instant Impact Collaborative Cohort is just that, instant impact. The result is that your learners thrive and you get your life back. You are not alone.

Collaborative leadership style & deep educational knowledge

Sheryl has the rare talent of being both an inspiring visionary and detailed implementer. She can take a high-level idea and turn it into a well-oiled machine without losing sight of the goals. This made Sheryl an an indispensable partner to the U.S. Department of Education in launching initiatives such as Connected Educator Month and Future Ready Leaders. Her collaborative leadership style and deep educational knowledge allows her to find solutions to the most complex educational challenges.

I am a better teacher, learner, and person

I am a better teacher, learner, and person because of what I was empowered to do this year. I became a true leader in a role I feel I was born to play and in my second year of teaching, no less.

I realized that a young, motivated, passionate person has something to teach her colleagues no matter how much less teaching experience she has than they. I accomplished feats I never believed I’d overcome and led a team, in their time of need, to successfully begin and execute a dynamic action research project. And without PLP and your push back, championing, and teaching, the year would have looked much different-lacking color, passion, direction.

I feel I am truly part of a PLP family and that I have discovered my true mini-vocation within my main vocation of teaching–bringing 21st century technology and shifted thinking to teachers as learners as well as our students. I am quite amazed at how clear this mission has become and how comfortable I feel in executing it.

I have grown as a teacher

PLP has completely changed the way that I think about the teaching me. Through the PLP network, I feel that I have grown as a teacher and the support has helped me to change my practices in the classroom in a way that enhances the learning of my students to be prepared for the world which they will enter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it take a lot of time each day? I’m already feeling stretched.
We hear you, in fact we designed the Instant Impact Collaborative specifically to target teachers that are overwhelmed. Just imagine the amount of time you will save by having a caring coach by your side as you’re figuring things out. You’re in control. You decide how much time you want to spend and when you want to spend it! Instant impact means just that — quick, relevant answers and solutions to your challenges right now.
It sounds like it is a lot of work. Is it? I need help just getting through the week, not more work to do!
We agree. Things are challenging right now for all of us. The Instant Impact Collaborative makes things efficient and easy to learn and apply. Not only do you get a monthly email with everything you need in one place, but you also have a coach on stand-by, a monthly webinar (or a webinar archive) around just-in-time topics, and a community of experienced peers who have already figured most of this out. Rather than having to search and search for the answer, often it’s just a click away with Instant Impact Collaborative.
I have all the technology training I need right now, are we going to learn about something else?
Absolutely! Powerful Learning Practice believes that the tools are easy – but it’s how to use the tools effectively for deep learning that presents the challenge. Each month we will explore resources and ideas around new pedagogy infused into connected learning. Our primary focus is helping you overcome the challenges you are facing all while unleashing the potential the tools have for learning in ways that are very different from traditional classroom instruction.
The kids are driving me crazy! They won’t stay in their seats, they keep turning the cameras off and they do anything to get a laugh out of the class. Will this help me get control back?

Yes! We’ll teach you ways to engage your students and build a classroom community of trust, combined with a passion driven, student selected curriculum that creates an environment where students want to participate and contribute. You will learn developmentally appropriate blended activities at every grade-band. Trust us, in a matter of weeks you will have learners hanging on every word you say and eager to engage in every activity you lead.

What if we don't have the funding? Is it really worth the money?

We’ve thought about this. We offer a three payment option available to spread out the cost over three months to make it more manageable. You get a lot of bang for your buck compressed into 3 short months! It includes 24/7 coaching, membership to a robust learning community that offers ongoing professional learning experiences beyond the I2C2 learning opportunities, open access to self-paced courses, and lots of printables and other free bonus content. Some say you can’t afford not to do this.

This seems like a one-size fits all program, but I want something more personalized. Can I customize my learning?

Absolutely! At Powerful Learning Practice we are all about personalized learning and not just for students! This is about instant impact! We know that when the experience is relevant for you, it will save you time, frustration and give you the needed inspiration to make the changes necessary. We’ve designed I2C2 to be a choose your own adventure approach to professional learning. Passion-based learning for educators.

I feel guilty spending time and money on myself.

Living for others is a quality so deeply ingrained in us, that it often translates into the complete abandonment of our own needs, which end up being less important than the needs of our children, partner, family, work, or community.

You deserve to have this care for yourself. And the rest of us in the PLP Community? We’ve got your back.

I’m not really a technology person, will I be able to keep up?

Yes. We specialize in teaching thousands of educators how to use technology in their everyday practice. Our coaches are patient, kind, and understand how to help you take small steps to reach your big goals.

Is this program only for classroom teachers?

I2C2 is for everyone that works with learners. It doesn’t matter if you’re working with children or adults, if you work with learners and are looking for a better way forward with instant impact in your instruction, pedagogy, coaching or leadership this program is for you.

Is this training all online?

Yes this training is 100% online. Here’s how it works:

  • When you register, you’ll get instant access to your bonus material to download. You’ll also get access to your self-paced course portal that will have anytime, anywhere access to the content we will be discussing.
  • Leading up to the first of 5 webinars, you will receive emails with information about how to access the live training sessions, downloadables and printables that relate to the theme for the month, how to access your coaches for 1:1 support and more.
  • All live training and on-demand coaching sessions will be offered through Zoom, a video conferencing application. You can watch and interact on your phone, tablet, or computer.
  • All sessions will be available for replay (and downloading) after the session.
  • A good portion of your learning will take place in an online community of inquiry. The group will share a private space for interaction with each other and the coaches, in addition to being a lifelong member of the PLP Community Hub with complete access to all that goes on there.
What if I can't make the live meetings? Can I still participate in I2C2?

Yes, all sessions will be recorded and uploaded to the community within 24 hours of the live session.

We highly encourage you to attend live, as you will get more out of the interactive parts of this program. But you can participate via the recordings if that works best for you.

How long do I have access to the program materials?

You have access to the self-paced courses for 1 year from when your cohort ends (June 2024). You have lifetime access to the PLP Community Hub and your cohort group and all the downloadables and materials are yours to keep and use.

Can I earn graduate professional development credit or contact hour CEUs for this program?

Yes. Upon completion of the program you will receive a downloadable certificate you can submit for credit with your school or district. Graduate pd credit is also available through the University of North Dakota. Contact us if you’re interested in graduate or continuing education credit.

How much does it cost?

The cost of the program is as follows:

  • $450 per person with a payment plan available.
Are payments plans available?

Yes, you can pay in two installments of $225.

What if I need a refund?

We’re so confident that you will benefit from I2C2 that we provide a 30-day money back guarantee.

Simply contact us within 30 days of purchase and complete an exit interview with us so that we can understand how to improve the program, then we’ll get your refund sorted out. Easy!

What if I need help?

Your success in I2C2  is our #1 priority. Embedded in the program are 5, 30-minute 1:1 coaching sessions, small group coaching in the community, opportunities for peer feedback and more. However,  if you need help at any time you can contact us and we’ll be in touch!

Can I share the videos, printables, or other resources with other teachers who aren't in the program?

The program materials are for your personal use. We ask that you don’t share them with anyone who hasn’t enrolled in the course. Our PLP Coaches often share wonderful free resources in the PLP Community Hub  with overlapping information, and we encourage you to invite others to the Hub.

How long is the program?

As long as you want to make it! Their is content that is released monthly and we have scheduled five live 90 minute Zoom meetings to dive deeper into our content and your questions. This makes the curriculum emergent and lets you get what you need, when you need it. However, all live meetings are recorded and the content is designed for you to work at your own pace. You decide what you want to learn, from who you want to learn it, and on your schedule. You could take full advantage of all the professional learning hours, or as little time as you feel is necessary to address your learning goals. And don’t forget, you have 5-30 minute sessions with a Connected Coach to walk you through anything you don’t understand. In terms of length of the program, you are in the driver’s seat.

What if I want to purchase school or district licenses?

We’d be happy to work with you for school or district licenses for your edcuators!

You can also explore The Connected Learner Experience that was designed for school or district teams to participate collaboratively.

The Connected Learner Experience also includes a Leadership Academy, Instructional Coaches program and a discount on all courses.

Can my school or district wants to pay with a PO?

Absolutely! We’d be happy to work with your school or district, please contact Sheryl@plpnetwork.com for more information.

I am most proud of the knowledge and skills I learned about each standard through the support and collaboration from other members and the PLP coaches. I have gained more confidence in implementing technology in the library.

My experiences, and work, with Powerful Learning Practice has had a profound and lasting impact on both my professional and personal lives. Learning ‘tips and tricks’ may work in the short-term—and they are indeed useful—but, when your beliefs and perspectives shift, that’s when you have experienced worthwhile professional learning. PLP changed the essence of my practice. PLP changed me. I am better prepared to serve educators, and those in my life, in a compassionate manner that allows them to unpack and realize their inherent greatness.
