Powerful Learning Practice has been alongside many of these teachers and administrators in Powerful Learning Communities as they rethink what it means to be an educator in the 21st century.

For the first time in our history we are reaching out to individual educators to help them transform their practices and become the sparks that could grow into revolutionary fires across districts. We understand that change comes in many shapes and forms and can move briskly or crawlingly depending on your district, but we want to be there for the educators that are ready and don’t want to wait.

We are happy to offer a practical and affordable way for individual educators to grow professionally through our Powerful Learning eCourses. Our course offerings for 2011-2012 vary in subject and length to offer flexibility for the increasing demands placed on educators:

You’ve heard it so many times you’re probably sick of it: Your classroom needs to change and leverage the power of Web 2.0 technologies for learning. But where do you start? How do you do this? In this five-week course, based on proven curriculum development models, we will guide you through a process to bring your practice into the 21st century.

No, this isn’t a nuts and bolts course about navigating online course software, though we will certainly touch on that. This course delves deeper into what it means to leverage the transformative power of online learning spaces and meet the needs of today’s connected learner. We will go from principles and best practice to facilitating to authentic assessment.

 

A passionate student is a learning student. In this course you will focus on shifting your practice toward a more engaging approach to bring out the passions within each learner. Together we will tackle theories, review case studies, and get into the practical elements of executing PBL units.

Sheryl is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Powerful Learning Practice. She works with schools and districts from around the world helping them to infuse technology into their curriculums and by leading other digital conversion efforts. Sheryl also consults with governments, educational organizations and non-profits in development of their various professional learning initiatives. Sheryl is a sought-after presenter at national and international events, speaking on topics related to digital and online learning, teacher and educational leadership, online community building, and other educational issues impacting children of poverty. Sheryl served on the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Board of Directors for six years. She co-authored The Connected Educator: Learning and Leading in a Digital Age with Lani Ritter Hall.
