Twitter can be an awesome tool for connecting, building your personal learning network, and DIY professional development. We even have a 13-page Twitter Handbook for Teachers that you can grab for free. But we’re always looking for new ideas of how to use Twitter in the classroom. We know that our readers are some of the smartest and most creative connected educators around. So we’re posing this question:
What is your favorite way to use Twitter with students?

My 4th graders tweet @HRAGrayson. The “tweeter” is one of my weekly classroom jobs. Students submit tweets about our learning or school activities. We also share resources – links to great tools or videos we have used in class. We sometimes put out requests for other classes to Skype with when we are ready for our next Mystery Skype (http://mysterystate.wikispaces.com/) or when we have presentations to share.
For parents that don’t use Twitter, I have a widget with a feed of our recent tweets on my class blog (http://mrsgrayson.blogspot.com/). At the end of the year we have a great record of our year together. Our school year begins next week, and I’m excited to train some new tweeters!

I have a twitter wall, and I have graph paper with 140 squares. I use it for tickets out the door, summarization, and just generally building community.
