The other week, well known educator, author and educational leader Howard Rheingold interviewed Powerful Learning Practice co-founders Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach and Will Richardson on Connected Learning TV.  Connected Learning is a Digital Media & Learning Project that is supported by the MacArthur Foundation.

Connected Learning supports “new models of education, and not simply new models of schooling, but entirely new visions of learning better suited to the increasing complexity, connectivity, and velocity of our new knowledge society.”

In the sixty minute interview, John NortonBrenda SherryPeter SkillenChristen Dodd and Ronnie Burt joined in as respondents during the live chat.  During the interview, Sheryl and Will were asked to describe what it means to be a 21st century educator, why Powerful Learning Practice helps teachers change the way they learn prior to changing the way they teach, the role of school leaders, experience versus outcome and much more!

Christen Dodd

Christen is a Connected Learning Specialist for PLP. After earning her MEd. in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Virginia, she began her career as a K-5 Computer Resource Teacher. She enjoyed collaborating with staff and creating technology lessons that engaged students, but caught “the bug” for presenting to educators on a national level. For eleven years, Christen trained educators both face-to-face and virtually with Verizon Thinkfinity. She also served as their Distance Learning Coordinator and Vice President of Professional Development. Christen has enjoyed working with Powerful Learning Practice since 2011 and continuing her work with educators, parents and students alike. Currently, she is also an instructional technology specialist at her children's JK-8 Catholic school.
